So...I just returned back from my home country Indonesia. I had three-week holiday there and as usual time went by so fast :-( This time I managed to travel around, thanks to Ole, my German friend who visited Indonesia during my holiday. We visited Bromo (though the weather was not in our side at that time...rainy and foggy), Bali, and the ultimate destination: Komodo and Flores islands.
The main pic: taken by Desy.
We started the trip from Denpasar, Bali (after a night trip from Malang, my hometown). Arriving in Labuan Bajo, we spent 2-day boat trip to visit Rinca island - Komodo island - Kanawa island. Then we rented a car to have a road trip from the west to east of Flores. It was 530 km winding road (seriously we only met a straight road only when we entered a town or drove along the coast road). A wonderful experience during those 5-day road trip, a lot of things to learn even for me as an Indonesian :-) One thing for sure, Flores is beautiful island!!
I just returned back from my Baltic trip visiting Vilnius-Klaipeda-Curonian Spit (Lithuania), Riga (Latvia), Tallinn (Estonia), and Helsinki (Finland). I had two times one-day biking trip, the first one was along the Curonian Spit from Smyltine to Nida (ca. 50 km). The second one was around Laheema National Park in Estonia (ca. 40 km). Both were awesome and each has different setting...so I am really happy that I did the two of them. The cities are also impressive, I visited some musical performances which were really lovely. Oh and I was so crazy for the wooden houses..
I just had a four-day trip to Wroclaw and Krakow in Poland. Had a great time there, though this time I did my solo traveling again after quite a long time. I had an early flight to Wroclaw, spent almost one day walking around the market square and the cathedral island. Then took a train to Krakow and spent three days there, I also had a chance to visit the Wieliczka salt mine and museum in Auschwitz.
Just visited Scotland. The weather was not that good but I think we were quite lucky with the snow and the fact that during most of the bad weather (aka rain :-P) we were either on the bus or on the train.
We stayed for two days in Inverness, visiting Loch Ness-Urquhart castle and Culloden battlefield, then taking train to Kyle of Lochash (beautiful view from the train...and it was snowing...). From Kyle we took bus to Portree, stayed overnight there, we just walked around Portree and visited Aros visitor center. It was raining almost the whole day, so we could not take our planned walk trip :-(. The next day, we took bus to Glencoe. Glencoe was amazing...we had nice walk (accidentally) from the visitor center to the village. Doing this trip with public transportation was quite adventurous :-) But it was a nice experience, think to go back again in summer :-P
I moved to Duesseldorf since June 2007, a lot of things happened during the first half of 2007. From some job interviews that I've done because of the cancellation of my project in Terneuzen (actually they decided to postpone it...but we never know when it will start again), got a job in Duesseldorf, waited for my residence and working permit in Germany, and of course the moving to Duesseldorf itself.
So far I like my job here and still enjoying Duesseldorf so much. And...I have met some VT members around NRW already (thanks to Win and Sabsi)...looking forward to having the next meetings guys !! :-P
Weihnachtsmarkt (christmas market) is always be my fave event in Germany...I like the atmosphere, the decorations, and the foods :-) In 2007, I managed to go to Weihnachtsmarkt in Koeln, Aachen, Dortmund, and of course Duesseldorf. I still hope I will be able to visit Weihnachtsmarkt in Nuernberg and Leipzig, hopefully in 2008...
I moved to Terneuzen because I got a project with a company there. Its location is quite remote from the other part of the Netherlands, you have to take bus for around 40 minutes from the nearest train station in Goes to reach it by public transportation. But actually it's only about 50 minutes from Ghent (Belgium) by car/bus.
We started the trip from Athens, a visit to Delphi and Cape Sounion (got a very wonderful sunset there). A plan to go to Meteora was cancelled because our flight delay :-(, but it's OK...then we stayed a bit longer in Athens. Taking a ferry to Santorini, staying there for 2 days (I really need more) and continuing the trip by islands hopping from Paros and Samos and Kusadasi. Thanks to some VT-ers who have given me lots of useful informations on the Forum. After Kusadasi, we went to Pamukkale to see its beautiful travertines, then to Goreme, Cappadocia with its incredible landscape (my most fave place from this trip!!). And finally Istanbul....It was a very nice trip!!
I went to Spain and Portugal (only Lisbon actually) and unplanned trip to Tangier (Marocco) for my winter hoilday. We started the trip from Segovia, then visited Madrid, took a night bus to Lisbon, another night bus to Seville and explored the beautiful part of Andalusia region. We rented a car and traveled around Granada-Algeciras, very beautiful view of mediteranean sea (around Marbela and Malaga) and Sierra Nevada. We even had unplanned trip to Tangier, though we only stayed there for several hours :-P

It was my dream to travel abroad and I had that opportunity when I continued my study in Germany. I studied there for 14 months and during that period I was so crazy to travel around Europe. Because I did not know that I would have a chance to do it again later :-P. Two months after arriving in Germany, I started my European adventure to Amsterdam-Luxembourg. Then I visited Paris-Strassbourg-Kopenhagen-Malmo during the winter holiday. Next was Italy trip (Pisa-Florence-Rome-Genoa-Milan-Venice). I visited London-Oxford and also Barcelona before I finished my study.
I really love Europe that I decided to work for a university in Eindhoven, the Netherlands before got another job in Duesseldorf, where I am working in a software company now.
Living in Europe, I realize that traveling is one of my biggest passions in life. At first I was so amazed by the beautiful buildings (that's how I ended up in Europe ), but then I realized there are more than just beautiful buildings or nature everywhere I travel. For me, traveling means getting to know other cultures and people (including the languages, though I am still struggling with my German now :-P).
I did not do so much traveling in my own country, Indonesia before (the one that I regret it so much :-(). My traveling project in Indonesia was around Java-Bali-Lombok islands only. But I will explore the rest of it someday, I still love my own country :-P My wishlist for my Indonesia trip are: Komodo National Park, Tanjung Puting National Park, Tana Toraja, Lembah Baliem.
