"I live here" Bornem by wdh2880

Fair warning, I live here, for about 10 years now. So I'm a bit biased.

Bornem is best known for the Dodentocht, a 100 km walk which is organized every year in August (in fact, they will start in half an hour at the moment of writing (august 12, 2005).

A pleasant town (20000 people) to live in, with a thriving Cultural Centre and still plenty of open space (to Belgian standards that is).
The population is growing steadily because Bornem girls have the habit of requiring to move here if you want to marry them.

Bornem is located near the river Schelde. Plenty of nice views around, especially the castle and the old lock-chamber.

This is Belgium, so plenty of pubs and restaurants wherever you turn.
