Lake Tekapo

Lake Tekapo is a glacial lake located on the edge of the Mackenzie Basin in the South Island of New Zealand . It covers an area of 83 km², and is at an altitude of 700 metres above sea level. It's pale blue colour ic caused by fine rock particles ground out by glacial ice. The lake is fed at its northern end by the Godley River, which has its source in the Southern Alps, to the north. The lake flows out into the Tekapo River at the southern end and forms part of the Waitaki hydroelectric scheme.
