Jayne being the kind generous person she is decided to share her cold with me, Since we have done not a lot except have long siestas and lie in our room and watch bad american TV with spanish subtitles, we thought we would dispell some myths about Argentinian food.
1) The National dish does not appear to be argentinian BBQ it is ham and cheese. Jayne and I wentto have dinner the 1st night ( at 6pm andgot told off in spanish by a cranky old man, nobody has dinner before 8 or 9pm) we were given a menu the only things on it were 15 different varieties of ham and cheese sandwiches. We could have ham and cheese for breakfast lunch and dinner, I think it is almost expected, so after the really bad ham and cheese experience we have been trying our best to avoid it ( muy difficile)
2) The second national dish is Caramel (dulce de leche) We could have that for breakfastluch and dinner too, and I think Jayne has!!!. She has even taken to stealing the little sachets to have later. I object to that. I only took it once!!!! In the super market you can buy big tubs of it.
3) Argentinians do desserts better than anyone!! (allincluding caramel of course). Let me describe argentinian brownie, Take normal choclatey moist rich brownie then cover it in 1.5cm of caramel then cover that in 2 inches of uncooked meringue. It almost beat us.
Yesterday we wentto the zoo and the botanic gardens. The botanic gardens are full of cats, and they follow you around it is quite creepy. Must go find somewhere todo our laundery and then we are goingto the cemetary to see Eva Perons grave which is the done thing for tourists to do.

I've seen that giant flower in Buenos Aires- that is amazing- its a very beautiful city and quite safe for South America I thought.
When I was in BA, I visited the Botanical Gardens. I almost thought it was a cats' sanctuary with the amount of cats there! Nice gardens though.
Hi Jo- nice little page on BA. Good photos. I am one of the weirdos who love visiting cemetaries. In Kolkata we spent one afternoon (3 hours!) going around, reading very old gravestones. LOL!
Nobody has dinner before 8 or 9?....goodness!...that's interesting. Nice photos Jo, especially the cat one :o) Cheers, Ann.
There will be a time I shall visit. Thank you for your album.
