Hi , Welcome to Jo's home page

by Josilver - last update: Jan 2, 2008

I have just returned from a a fabulous trip to Tasmania where I hiked the Overland Track. I have started uploading some pics but havent added any detail yet - shall do so as soon as I get a chance.

Hi, Thanks for coming to look at my page.

About me: My name is Jo
I live in in Coogee, Sydney - check out my Coogee page if you get a chance
I work as a medical research assistant
My favourite place in the world is La Paz, Bolivia closely followed by San Sebastian in Spain.
I have so far been to 17 countries and would like to go to many more.
I have jsut returned from a trip to venezuela , Trindiad and Tobago and Costa Rica - I shall be working on pages soon
My favourite colour is green - In case you cant tell ;-)

Travel companys I have used

There are several companys that I have personally used and would recommend (No they are not paying me in any way)

GAP/Intrepid - They are brilliant, great itinerarys, enthusiastic professional guides. I had allways thought that GAP tours involved camping and roughing it, but this is not necessarily the case. Most tours stay in simple hotels and any camping is usually only 1 or 2 nightswith all gear supplied. Clients are a wide age group www.GAPadventures.com

TUCAN - Speciallise in south and central america. They offer wide variety of tours that run all year round to most destinations so you can nearly allways find some thing that fits in with your holidays. On the down side, although they take all age groups I would tend to describe some tours (escpecially the popular Peru etc) as the Contiki of south America and some of the guides are more interested in going out drinking with the clients than looking after the whole group. www.tucantravel.com

BUSABOUT - A hop on hop off net work around europe. More flexible than an organised tour as you can choose to extend or shorten you stay inany place. There is a guide on board who can tell you about the highlights of each place and book your accomodation, but once you get off the bus you can do what ever you like. Great for independant travellers as you tend to meet and go places with other people on the bus, but you can go and do your own thing when you want to as well. www.busabout.com

Paddywaggon - Small group tours of ireland. Tend to get a mixed group of people. See all the main sights with food and accomodation organised for you. Good knowlegable guides generally with a great sense of humour. If you dont have fun in ireland you are doing something wrong. http://www.paddywagontours.com/

more tips coming soon

Ben Lee – Were all in this together

Every one else seems to have a song on their home page so I thought I would put one on too. Ben Lee is an Aussie singer song writter, probably most famous for being dumped by Claire Danes. Since then he spent time rediscovering himself at a spiritual retreat. The result was the album "Awake is the new sleep" full of cheerful happy songs, of which this is one of my favourites and seems to be in the spirit of the VT community

woke up this morning
i suddenly realized
were all in this together
i started smiling
cos you were smiling
and were all in this together
im made of atoms
youre made of atoms
and were all in this together
and long division
just doesnt matter
cos were all in this together
i saw you walking
in the city
were all in this together
the city's changing
cos we are changing
and were all in this together
every twelve seconds
someone remembers
that were all in this together
in the kitchen
of your rent-control apartment
were all in this together
cmon baby
i dont mean to rush you
i only wanted to reach out and touch you
ive gotta start to open my heart
i know you think
about jumping ship before it sinks
but were all in this together
ask a scientist
its quantum physics
were all in this together
and on the subway
we feel like strangers
but were all in this together
yeah i love you and you love her
and she loves him
but were all in this together
yknow baby
theres never been protection
in all the history of human connection
cmon darling
its alright to show me
you dont ever need to be lonely
once you start to open your heart
i saw you crying
i started crying
cos were all in this together
and then religion
its a big decision
but were all in this together
were all in this together
