India has everything that anyone could want in a destination. From the Himalaya's, to the Thar Desert, the beaches of Goa, mad frenetic cities like Mumbai, to temples of all religions, India has the lot! India gets under your skin, creeps into your mind, and generally assaults all of your senses...DIVINE! India is not for the faint hearted...in the major cities the heat can be oppressive...the crowded streets contain all walks of life...disfigured beggers, homeless children wanting a rupee or three, all sorts of domestic wildlife casually wandering through rushhour traffic, every type of road vehicle you can imagine...and some you can't! , open air butchers...with scores of flys buzzing around a carcass, it really is a complex and excillerating experience, one that you'll never forget! But that said, India has given me some of my most special & emotional experiences of my life...I have made some truly special friends...met loads of familys & travellers on trains...and now have some grasp of the complexity & diversity of this truly special country.
I'm going to use this India page as a general guide...I have seperate pages for places of interest such as Ellora Caves, Jaisalmer, or Goa etc. My pages on Goa are the most detailed, as I try and get out there at least once a year!
- In a nutshell:You'll either love it with passion...or hate it!

India is beautiful and exotic, but how I agree with you "it is not for the faint hearted." Enjoyed reading your tips.
dont know wht made u t o write that line that even a cheap mp3 player can be the salary of a staff of one month. but thats true. moreover that line which says most theft are done by other tourists amazed me. is it really true?

Such nice useful info; it makes me want to go back! I also prefer the trains to the A/C coaches.
