All Spice...a superb place! - Goa
All Spice: All Spice...a superb place! OTHER LOCAL Review

This is by far the best restaurant in the Arpora area. Great atmosphere...good mix of cuisines, although the Indian dishes are the best...and great music.

Be warned...it tends to get packed out most nights, as a lot of customers are frequent visitors ever since it opened in 2002...if you get there before 8pm you should get a table.

Favorite Dish: Where do you start...great steaks (Beef, Chicken, Pork, & Lamb) all served with Indian style mash and cabbage; the Chicken Chettinad is lovely, fresh fish & lobster...I just love all the curries!A...and they probably have the best range of kebabs in Goa! If you are going to have a starter I highly recommend the Prawns 65, and the Spicy Chile Beef!

Comparison: about average

Directions: From Calangute drive through Arpora, past the Chapel, and 'All Spice' is the first Restaurant on the right-hand side.

Sublime: Excellent food...

Chris Bee, the original Chef at Sublime, has opened a great restaurant serving modern cuisine in Saligao. Lovely garden setting, nice lighting, and this weekend had live Sitar & Tabla playing.

NB You must make a reservation...number is 9822484051

Favorite Dish: My starter was roast beetroot salad with wasabi dressing...fantastic! For mains I had A fillet steak served on mash with a lovely red wine sauce...simply gorg!

NB This review was a few years ago, but now in 2011 the food is still great!

Address: Saligao

Comparison: more expensive than average

Directions: Very hard to describe its location unless you know north goa well, but most taxi drivers know where it is!

Simply divine... - Goa
Travelbar: Simply divine...

Great food in a lovely setting with lots of huge palms and greenery...but during the day it doubles as a travel agency, hence the name!

Favorite Dish: Too many to mention! Tuna Carpaccio, Angels on horseback, various steaks, red snapper, crab stuffed tomatoe, and a cold soup to die for! The food style is similar to that at Sublime...

Directions: Its on the Calangute/Candolim main road, near St Anthonys Chapel, almost opposite the Tarcar Ice Factory.

After Seven: Mmmm...nice steaks! OTHER LOCAL Review

Based in south Calangute this is a delightful restaurant, and offers full silver service. Its not cheap...but definately worth a visit, and they have an extensive wine list.

Favorite Dish: I love the imported steaks here, but my faves are the Orange Souffle, and the Chocolate Mousse!

NB I took some friends here in November 2010, and both the food & service was terrible!

Chef Soumyens Kitchen: Gorgeous cuisine...

This restaurant is new this season (07/08) and is run by Soumyen who used to be the Head Chef at 'After Seven'. Seats about 50/60 people, and has a live pianist. The food is of the highest quality, and excellently presented.

Favorite Dish: Lets see:

Tuna Steaks, the signature dish of Chicken; the Fillet Steak; Fish, Chips, and mushy peas; The Snapper Fillet...plus the chocolate mousse, souffle's etc - its all yum!

Gato Loco: European Cuisine...

This is a nice little restaurant serving English and classic European dishes. Not cheap but the food is very good.

NB They do not do curries...

This place gets booked out each Sunday as people flock here for the roasts.

Sublime: Be warned...

In the past I, along with many guide books, have recommended a restaurant called 'Sublime' next to Baga Bridge...but no more! Went there Wednesday to find its under new ownership, and the food was appalling, probably the worst I've ever had in Goa! There was five of us and not one liked the food.

Be warned...

Favorite Dish: I ordered roast chicken with bubble and squeek , and got overcooked tough chicken, served with a selection of vegetables and two scoops of mash (out of a packet) - yuk!

Address: Next to Baga Bridge

Capricorn: The usual mix... OTHER LOCAL Review

This is a typical Goan restaurant that serves the usual mix of Goan, Indian, Italian and International cuisine. Personally I find it lacks atmosphere, but the food is generally okay.

Favorite Dish: Definately the 'Paprika Chicken served with mashed potato and spinich'...yum!

Comparison: about average

Directions: On Calangute High Street, just past 'Public Bar' heading for the beach...

Fastfood Goan style... - Goa
Club City: Fastfood Goan style... OTHER LOCAL Review

Club City is on part of what was the old petrol station in Calangute. Its basically a collection of kitchens but with a central waiter service. So you can pick pizza; dosa's; kebabs; burgers; masala etc etc all from the same waiter. Its cheap, cheerful, but okay for a quick, cheap night out!

Favorite Dish: Try the four foot long dosa!
