As a Lancastrian it grieves me to say it but if you are only going to visit one City in the North of England it should probably be York. When it comes to history, pubs and historic pubs you can’t beat a look inside the walls. I’m no York expert but a wealth of info has been written in VT and elsewhere by people who are and I’ll leave it to them to give you the run down.

first time i have seen a pic of the shambles - i've read about it often and often
I love these old streets. It wouldn't have been so lovely when all the offal was on sale here.
