Making Scones for the Tea Room

Bunratty Folk Park & Castle

I visited Bunratty the first day after an overnight flight from Philadelphia. Luckily it was a brilliant sunny, balmy day. I spent the day in a very leisurely fashion, arriving about 11am and not leaving until after the Medieval Castle dinner that night. The front ticket sales ladies were very friendly and helpful, especially Marie.

I had a great time wondering through the little villages, gardens and houses. The interpreters were friendly and instructive.

Dublin

I prefer small towns or villages but came to Dublin to see the museums and the Library. Did that and enjoyed it very much, so now I don't have to go back.

Cragganowen Ringfort

Cragganowen

I thoroughly enjoyed the Cragganowen Museum near the village of Quinn, County Claire. It shows the life of early Celts in Ireland with a ringfort and dolman. The cranog, a reconstruction of an early medieval structure built on water, had burned and was in the process of being rebuilt when I was there, which was a huge disappointment. Thank goodness there is another site near Kenmore, Scotland that has a cranog museum.
