Turkey is a top tourist destination in summer. In winter there are almost no tourists there. Still this is not a reason not to go to turkey in winter. I myself had a great holiday in februari over there.
Most off the other tourists I've met were Korean and Japanese. In Istanbul and Canakkale there were more tourist then inland;
Temperatures got very low in Kappadocia but for me that was the highlight.
What made this holliday great was the many contacts with the locals which are a very open, friendly and helpfull bunch.
