South America's Germany?

Santiago de Chile

Santiago is nice city with a breathtaking setting.
I liked Santiago but I have to say that it wasn't the most exciting city I have ever been to. I only visited Chile's capital for five days and the city had enough to fill this period of time. I am not sure though if it has that much more to offer if you want to spend more than a week there.
If you're close to Santiago it's worth a visit... but maybe you should prefer the close town of Valparadiso to the capital. I didn't have the time to visit both places, but people told me that the town by the pacific ocean is much more charming than the metropolis in the Andes.
If you are going to visit Santiago de Chile nevertheless, check out the places I recommend- I bet you'll like them too!

Nice, clean and maybe a little boring...

One thing I noticed right away after arriving in Santiago de Chile was that everything was way more organized and cleaner than I was used to from Argentina.
The cars were actually driving in their lanes and there was no garbage lying around on the streets. Everything seemed to be much more in order people were actually paying attention to the laws.
I, being from Germany, was reminded very much of my home country. That's why like to refer to Chile as "South America's Germany" :)

Also i didn't discover too much of a nightlife in Santiago. Sure, there are some bars, clubs and pubs, but there's not such a wide choice like I had in Buenos Aires. Some of the locals told me, that yes, there is a nightlife but it's hard to find the hot-spots and there are not that many anyhow.

I have to add that of Chile I only saw Santiago because of time reasons so I can only speak for the city and not for the whole country.

PIC: Clean enough to eat from the streets?
