During our stay in Holland we wanted to see not only Amsterdam but also a few different places. As we were staying in Zandvoort we didn't want to travel that far so we decided to leave the north sea coast to drive further inland and on one of our day trips we passed Edam.
Definitely worth a visit. It's really tiny and there's not too much to do unless it's cheese market during the touristy season (unfortunately we weren't there at the right day - it's on Wednesdays).
Edam is very picturesque with all the historical buildings - lovely to stroll aorund.
There are a few shops in the town centre - selling cheese of course. Nice present to bring home if those at home like cheese. We've been told the small ones completely covered with wax last for 2 months without being chilled. |
