The Earth of my Friends

Earth of my Friends is the title I have chosen for Italy. In 2003 during a cruise with a group of our American friends, my husband and I met Valeria and Davide. They were an Italian couple on the cruise for their honeymoon. We were at a table set for eight and they were the extra two who made the table complete. My husband and I instantly made a connection with the two and although the language barrier could have been a problem somehow we all seemed to be able to talk and talk and talk. Sign language came in handy and also the trusty English/Italian dictionary played a strong part in our conversations. After the cruise we kept in touch via emails. They insisted we visit Italy, we decided why not! They, along with their families invited us to stay in their homes during our travels. What a wonderful trip, our friends took us everywhere......Florence, Venice, Verona, Rome, Campobasso, Termoli, Pietracupa and our favororite the city of Siena. We had instant tour guides. Their families feed us delicious home cooked itatian food every night. The experience will never be forgotten. We have made life long friends. The beauty of Italy was amazing but the gift of friendship will be ever lasting. They have since come to visit us and we will return to Italy in the Fall of 2006. So take it from us don't be affraid to start a conversation with someone you don't know, they just may turn out to be the closest friends you'll every make on this journey called life and it may take you on a journey somewhere you would never expect to go.

Pros and Cons

Pros:Everything, it is truly amazing there.
Cons:No ice........smiles!
In a nutshell:Once you go, you'll go again and again.
