Nightlife Spot: Royal City Avenue (RCA)

If you want to go where the locals go - this is IT.

Those who love R&B must check out Route 66. The club is divided into North, South, East and West areas with the larger areas (East and West) playing R&B music. I was there on a Friday night and it was jam-packed with young people out having a good time. Great R&B/Hip hop music with the music videos being shown on screen too. If you need a break, there are plenty of tables and chairs outside where you can sit down and get a drink.

Another club to check out is Club Astra, just a few doors away from Route 66. There are plenty of different events held here weekly - the Friday I was there, it was drum and bass which I LOVE. Cover charge applies here though.

A few other places along RCA that were worth checking out but I was quite happy spending the rest of the night at Route 66. Clubs have to close at 1am so don't head out too late! And don't forget to bring your passport for identification.

Nightlife Spot: Bed Supperclub

Since I missed out on coming here on my last trip to Bangkok, this was a must-go on this trip. They serve a fusion-style dinner, but for a cheaper alternative, come here for drinks. Reservations are recommended but we got there around 9pm and there were still seats/beds available.

You can't help but gasp when you arrive. To see this white spaceship-like monstrosity in the middle of nowhere is just bizzare! And you have to walk up a ramp to get to the entrance... you really feel like you're getting onto a spaceship!

The whole idea of sitting on beds sounds really fun, but actually looked quite uncomfortable. I'm using the word looked as we ended up sitting on proper chairs rather then the beds. Music was a mix of "Buddha-bar" and dance music, with a huge screen showing a video of strippers gyrating away - strangely enough, it kinda fit the ambience and music.

Lots of foreigners here, so that meant there were working girls trying to get business as well. If you want a change of scenery, try Q Bar just down the road.
