Diversity unlike any other

CN Tower & city lights
I have had the lucky fortune in my life to have been blessed with the opportunity to migrate to Canada, and live in Toronto for the last 4 years. I am on my way to becoming a Canadian citizen and will be in a few months. I'm very proud of it too! I've been living in downtown Toronto for over a year now, but have lived in the surrounding areas as well. Canada as a country itself, is so multicultural, and you can't see more of a reflection of that than in the city of Toronto. Every country, language, religion, ethical background you can think of is represented here. We, as a city and country have been able to meld all these cultures together in a peaceful community, without losing our original heritage and identity. I'd call it the happy medium! I've come across so many people, and made friends with people from so many different backgrounds. When you take the subway and look around you, people of different race, age, and religion are all around you. It's not only the actual city of Toronto that is great, but the people who live here are what make it even more amazing.

A mecca of arts, culture, and sport, there's so much to do and so much to see in or just outside of the city. Within the city itself, you can't come to Toronto and not see the CN Tower, one of the most unique parts of the Toronto skyline (probably also one of the BIGGEST tourist traps....) The tallest freestanding structure in the world, it's definitely a wonder. Depending on how much money you are wanting to spend, the price starts at approximately 20 dollars Canadian, to go up the tower. But you can only get onto a certain level of the tower. You can forego paying the entrance fee if you have reservations at the 360 restaurant, which is the famed revolving restaurant at the top of the CN tower. The elevator ride is breath taking, if not a little creepy to be honest if you're afraid of heights. (I am a little, haha) I had the chance to dine at the 360 restaurant, luckily I wasn't paying, and to be honest, it wasn't the greatest dining experience I've had. I've had better, what you're really paying for is the view, I've had better food closer to the ground. But with the dining experience, you also have access to the famed glass floor, which is definitely something to look forward (or away) from. It really is pretty creepy, and a little nauseating standing on those pieces of glass that high up in the air. But if you can bear it, go for it! Tourist trap or not, you have to go the CN Tower and at least gawk at it once, even if you just stand right outside and do it! (It's like going to Egypt and not going to see the pyramids....)

It is, to be honest, quite hard trying to summarize all the wonderful things about Toronto. But in the upcoming chapters, I will do my best to try and do it some justice. So please bear with me as I slowly build pages on my dear home that is so multi faceted and multicultural, it's kind of like trying to describe the whole world melded into a city.....

CN Tower

Here's a shot of the CN Tower I took yesterday before I went kayaking. Summer's almost over and it was an absolutely gorgeous day!

I am Canadian!!

Woohoo, as of September 2005 I became a full fledged Canadian citizen!!!!!! I'm very proud and happy to be one, and am over the moon at finally holding a Canadian passport. Definitely makes travelling a lot easier, hahaha.

Pros:"The immense diversity, and cultural scope of the city....oh, and it's not as expensive as some other cities..."
Cons:"There's so much to do and see, it's hard to try and fit it into a short time"
