A World Heritage at Macau

by sailor_p - last update: May 2, 2006

The Historic Centre of Macau

The Taipa House : Typical Colonial House
Macau is a Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, and like Hong Kong, enjoys the principle of "one country, two systems". With a rich history of being an important gateway for trade, it is no wonder that the conservation of "The Historic Centre of Macau" is essential to the local community.

"The Historic Centre of Macau" has been desigated as an UNESCO World Heritage Site since 15 July 2005. During my stay at Macau, I have the opportunity to experience both the modern sophistication and historical charm. So, join me for a tour of this beautiful centre infused with rich historic charm and modern sophistication.
I like Singapore Budget Terminal!

Trying out Singapore's Budget Terminal

This was also the first time I used Singapore's Budget Terminal. The budget terminal was opened on 26 Mar 06 (I could remember this date because it was the same day which my new boat was commissioned!). To date, the airport is serving one airline - Tiger Airways. This is the airline which I took to visit Macau!

Despite the reports in the newspapers, I am totally satisfied with the new terminal. Personally, I feel that the budget terminal is much better than other international airports I have visited. The place is spacious, clean and comfortable. Also, there are many shops for your retail therapy. Free internet access is also available and there are a number of eateries located at the departure hall. Overall, I have a very good experience at the budget terminal!
East Meets West @ Macau

A Gateway of East Meeting West

Although I've visited Hong Kong a number of times, I did not take the opportunities to visit Macau, which is about 1-hour ferry ride away. Thanks to Tiger Airways, I got a 2-way free ticket (of course I have to pay for the taxes!) to any destination under the airline's route. Why Macau? I've read a lot about Macau and the historic charm of this UNESCO World Heritage site beckons me to visit her. No regrets. I enjoyed my trip tremendously. This is even more so with the company of my good friend, Jean. We have a ball of time in Macau!

Pros:"It's a peaceful country filled with excitement!"
Cons:"The massive construction is taking place now!"
In A Nutshell:"A beautiful and simple gateway for a short holiday."

You know T, each time I see your completed Macau page, I'm reminded to start mine! Maybe I'll just talk about food and architecture...

Great tips. But I'm pretty sure you would have to count me out for the skywalk!
