A Charming World Heritage Centre

Listed as a World Heritage Centre by UNESCO in 1999, Hoi An Ancient Town is an exceptionally well-preserved example of a South-East Asian trading port dating from the 15th to the 19th century. Its buildings and its street plan reflect the influences, both indigenous and foreign, that have combined to produce this unique heritage site.

Formerly a haven for the traders, Hoi An was a busy port between second and tenth centuries. It was also the site of the first Chinese settlement in southern Vietnam. Today, Hoi An's population of over 75,800 are ethnic-Chinese.
