Patong beach: Just Do Nothing - I Am Not Joking!

Contrary to many comments I have read, Patong Beach proves to be a surprise for me. Instead of a overly commercialised tourist venue, what greeted me was a pristine beach with crystal clear waters. I was literally struck with awe when I first stepped onto this famous beach. It's really breath-taking!
Well, as suggested by the title, what you need to do on this beach is absolutely nothing. Just lie back, think of nothing (please don't think about your work too!) and unwind under the tropical sun. Occasionally, just head for the crystal clear waters for a relaxing cool swim. There is not much currents and wave - so it's safe to swim. Also, the water areas are marked wity buoys for various activities such as swimming, jet-skiing and etc.
Beach chairs and umbrellas are readily available for rental at cheap rates. Services are good - the drinks vendor who owns the chairs and umbrellas would quickly help you to adjust the beach umbrellas should the sun moves its position. Clothes hangers are freely provided to hang your clothes. Mini brooms are provided to help us sweep the sand on the chairs and tables.
Just think about sipping refreshing juice from the coconut under the sun at Patong Beach - that's life!

According to the locals, Promthep Cape is a headland forming the extreme south end of Phuket. "Prom" is Thai for the Hindu term, "Brahma," signifying purity, and "Thep" means 'God.' Local villagers used to refer to the cape as "Leam Jao", or the God's Cape. The feature used to be an easily recognisable landmark for the early seafarers traveling up the Malay Peninsula from the sub-continent.
Today, the Promthep Cape is a favourite point where locals and visitors would visit to have an overview breathtaking panoramic view overlooking the southern tip of Phuket. The best time to visit is as the sun sets over the Andaman Sea. However, don’t miss the sunrise if you can make it there at that hour, as many people feel it is even more spectacular and the crowds are a lot smaller.
Also, remember to slap on tons of sunblock before visiting the Promthep Cape!

Along the road between Kata Beach and Nai Harn Beach is situated a large public pavilion where you can rest and enjoy the spectacular view. Visible from this vantage point, the Kata View Point is where you can see three of Phuket’s prettiest beaches, Kata Noi, Kata Yai, and Karon Beach.
From this point, you can watch the emerald green waters of the bay change to shades of blue and indigo as they pass over the coral reefs. Don't miss this sight - it's worth your visit!

Wat Chalong is Phuket’s most important Buddhist temple and is the biggest and most magnificent of Phuket’s 29 Buddhist monasteries. The architecture is typical of temples found throughout Thailand. Wat Chalong is associated with the revered monks, Luang Pho Chaem and Luang Pho Chuang, both of whom were famous for there work in herbal medicine and tending to the injured.
Many locals visit this temple to be blessed by the monks and receive a good luck charm in the form of a string tied around the wrist, which they believe protects them from injury and illness. Also, many people believe that they can be blessed to strike lottery too! Well, these are just local beliefs and it's up to you whether you want to believe it or not! It's your take! And by the way, there are some stalls selling colourful beachwear and sarongs near the temple. The prices are very reasonable and the designs are wide ranging!
