World Heritage that Lives through the Age of Time | UNESCO World Heritage Site - Borobudur |
The last time I visited Yogyakarta was in mid-Nov 2005. I left the place with deep impression. Yogyakarta is a simple town filled with historical charm. Little did I know that 6 months later, a major earthquake shook this town that left many losing their loved ones and homeless. My heart goes out to them. I pray that this town would be restored soon.
Yogyakarta, or also known as Jogya, is located at the heart of Java. Listed as one of the "must" see place to visit in Patricia Schultz's "1,000 Places to See before You Die", it is a focal point for arts, culture and most of all, heritage, in Java.

|  | A Modern Meeting in a Timeless City I have the honour to visit this beautiful city filled with old-world charm for a major meeting that attracts key officials from ASEAN countries. Though the meeting lasted 3 days, it was a fulfilling experience for me as I learnt a lot from my counterparts and also got the chance to experience the sights and sounds of this city known as the "City of Tolerance". |

| | Renewing Ties It was also a great opportunity for me to catch up with my friends whom I met at the same meeting in Cambodia, this year, in June. I was happy to exchange and update news of our lives since we left one another in Cambodia. At the same time, I also made new friends and renew old ties. It was a blessing to have friends from different countries, learning their ways of daily lives. |
