History & Beauty - 2 Days In Boston

by Mikebb - last update: Jun 9, 2008

Reflection of Trinity Church
Our flight from Paris arrived at Washington DC late afternoon on the Monday of Memorial Weekend and we were greeted with Chaos. The arrivals had many hundreds of people claiming luggage and waiting to pass through customs. One hour to our connecting flight to Boston and we had not yet been fingerprinted and photographed, no chance of making the flight.

I spoke with an official and he said , don't worry your flight has been cancelled. We had to be in Boston by 6pm to join a Globus Coach tour. Sometime later we were through to the domestic terminal and our departure gate only to witness the circus of offering ticket holders money and free taxi fares to go to Regan airport. We had no idea what to do but managed to speak with an offical who said they were chartering a 100 seat jet for Boston and we would get seats.

All ended well and we arrived in Boston at 9pm to a most delightful hotel, The Boston Park Plaza Hotel & Towers, contacted our Tour Director who said we had not missed much at the Greeting Session earlier in the evening.
Public Garden & Swan Boats

Visitor Friendly City

We found Boston to be a beautiful city, easy to walk around and plenty of history for those who enjoy the past, the Boston Common and Public Garden were outstanding parks to walk and very central to the city.

The Freedom Trail was most interesting and the historic sites well maintained and in the middle of all this history was Historic Faneuil Hall, The Quincy , Nort and South Markets which must be on the agenda of all tourists.
Quincy Market, Crowds & Entertainment

Perhaps Another Time

Our time in Boston was way too short but most enjoyable and worth the troubles experienced travelling to the city. Our disappointment being we did not experience the surrounding countryside which has a fine reputation.
A return visit to experience the beautiful Fall season must be considered.

I was in Boston a year ago, and it sounds like you found some great places to visit. There are many sites along the trail in downtown. Great job of showing your viewpoint and pictures

I love the Duck statues in the garden. They are from a favorite childhood book of mine "Make Way For Ducklings". Nice tips. I used to live here and loved it so I love reading pages about Boston.
