Praha - Beauty on the Vltava River

by Mikebb - last update: Dec 7, 2005

Charles Bridge, crowded day & night
We arrived in Praha mid September to find the weather significantly cooler than the previous 2 weeks in Budapest and Vienna, however the fine but cooler weather was very good for walking through this city and enjoying the magnificant sights. We were informed by guides that this cooler weather was unusual for this time of year, in actual fact most days were approx 17 C which is most likely a good temperature for Europeans but cold for where we live.First impressions upon arrival were of a beautiful city and after a week of sightseeing, good food and accommodation we had not been disappointed. The city was very easy to move around having an excellent public transport system including an underground train system, trams and buses.During our stay we never had a need to use a taxi. We ventured out of the city and did a day trip to Kutna Hora which is an old town approximately 70 km east of Praha. We did this by ourselves and had no problem as we had visited the Praha Tourist Centre the previous day and they provided us with all necessary information, train station, departure times , cost etc. It was a most rewarding day trip. At all times of day and night we felt safe in this wonderful city, however as with all large cities we did not venture late into the evening into the less safer nightlife areas.
View over Vltava River, Prague Castle on the hill
Walking along the riverside is most relaxing with the beautiful buildings, bridges, cafes and river traffic giving you an everchanging panorama.
Supermodels overlook fashionable Prague
A most impressive billboard, overlooking the river. Anyone know the names of these "Supermodels"
