We travelled to Brussels from London by Eurostar train, leaving Pancreas Station at 1pm , arriving Brussels 4pm, however I know there was a 1 hour time change but cannot recall which way, most likely we moved our watch forward.

The journey was a high speed delight with plenty of good scenery on the way. We had 5 days in Brussels and during our stay took day trips to Brugge in the rain and several days later travelled to Aachen in Germany for the day.

Brussels is centrally located to several countries including, Germany, France and Holland. The high speed intercountry rail system enables tourists to day trip into these countries with the time to travel to Paris being approximately 2 hours.

We were lucky that our last night in Brussels coincided with the Friday night opening of the weekend Belgium Beer Festival. It was a very wet day but that did not deter the crowd and it was a full house. The rain stopped early evening but the cobblestones in the Grand Place stayed wet with spilt beer.
