We spent 2 hours in Hallstatt whilst on a day tour to Salsburg, we found the village to be the highlight of the tour. Situated on a pristine lake high in the alps this beautiful area has been designated a World Heritage Site, surrounded by the lake and tree covered Alps. The area has 7000 years of history and as you walk through the streets you will pass the old salt mine, several churches and many interesting , well kept homes. Nearby is St. Gilgen on the Wolfgangsee where the film The Sound of Music was made. |
