Our one day visit to Cairo and the Pyramids of Giza was brief, however it enabled us to view the remaining Wonder of The Ancient World. This was something special, going back to childhood dreams, one of which is now realised.
With 6 days remaining on our planning schedule before our return flight I noticed a 7 day cruise from Athens which included a 12 hour tour of Cairo, including a visit to the Giant Pyramids and then a 3 hour drive to Alexandria to rejoin the cruise. We were lucky as we arranged embarkment at its first port of call, Istanbul.
We arrived at Port Said early morning, breakfast commenced at 5am and we were soon on the coaches for the trip to Cairo where we visited the Egyptian Museum where we saw the treasure of Tutankhamun. Later we had lunch during a short cruise on the Nile. After lunch we drove to the Giant Pyramids of Giza which since the growth of Cairo are now on the outskirts of the city.

Thanks Dee, have been busy this week fixing up things around our home. Back to putting up more tips on our recent trip to Sabah, North Borneo ( Malaysia)
Mike how wonderful to see something so ancient and charming. It is on my to see list. Thats for sharing such a wonderful adventure. Excellent page!
The Pyramid of Giza looks amazing. As soon as I read that you opened your wallet, I knew the story wasn't going to end in a good way. Well, ... at least you had a good show on the boat. Cheers!
guess the belly dancer made it all worth while. as for the number of busses, i read somewhere that there are over 200 tourist ships on the nile based in luxor. crowded. have a good weekend.
Great start Mike. That big Pyramid is really amazing. Things that are so old and would be an amazing feat if built even today, hold me spellbound. Carry on my friend, you are doing well. Kate
