"Woy Woy A Good Base to Explore Central Coast, NSW" Woy Woy by Mikebb
Woy Woy Travel Guide: 7 reviews and 24 photos
The Central Coast of New South Wales was a regular holiday destination during school holidays over 40 years ago. In those days our family lived in Sydney and a relative owned a holiday cottage in the beautiful seaside resort of Terrigal.
Four decades on and my brother retired to Woy Woy a small town located on the waterway and still retaining some of the holiday atmosphere. A popular residential district for people who wish to escape the vast suburbia of Sydney and enjoy the beaches , waterways and national parks of the Central Coast.
The fast and regular rail service from Woy Woy connects with the Sydney business centre in 75 minutes.
Eight days holiday gave me the opportunity to revisit many beaches, small villages which have grown into prosperous towns, attend local markets and visit many clubs and restaurants.
I was delighted to see that the extensive State and National Parks remain unchanged in pristine condition and surround the extensive waterways.
I enjoyed several ferry excursions, the highlight being the 4 hour, 45km trip to Bobbin Head including a glimpse of the Hawkesbury River.

Struck me as an unusual name for a place and made me smile, so I had to pop in and see ;-) Looks lovely here, and I always enjoy a boat trip like this one!
I grew up in Sydney and we visited the Central Coast regularly, my parents retired here and my brother now lives there, only an hour by fast train from the Sydney City Centre. North and South of Sydney is covered by similar waterways.
Nice photos and reviews...my sister lives not too far from here.
Kuringai National Park would be so fun to explore and the bay is so lovely! Nice page Mike!
This sounds like a great area for getaways, especially as there is fast and regular rail service from Sydney. Good that the State and National Parks are still in pristine condition, just as they were in your childhood.
