Our day visit to Jerusalem and Bethlehem was hectic with our cruise boat berthed early morning at Ashdod port. Coaches were waiting for us and 90 minutes later we arrived in the city of Jerusalem.
Our first stop was the Mount of Olives (Har Ha-Zeitim) where we stopped to view the city and take photos.
We managed to see many of the major religious sites and actually crossed the border into Palestine to visit Bethlehem and the Church of the Nativity. After visiting the Church we were taken to a nearby hotel for lunch and then returned to Israel and Jerusalem to visit the Holy Sepulcher Church, walk the Via Dolorosa and visit the Western Wall.
Some of us were able to do some shopping whilst on the move, others were not so successful and quickly got lost causing great angst for our Israeli guide.
Our one day visit to Jerusalem and Bethlehem was a standout on our 63 day holiday which included iconic cities of Paris, Moscow, Zurich, Istanbul, St Petersburg, Vilnius, Berlin etc.
One day in Jerusalem does not do the city justice, however I am very pleased to have had that one day!

It is certainly and quick and fast crowd you got into but still managed to see sites.
What an awesome experience to see the holy land. Thanks for all the detail tips and great photo's. I always enjoy your pages!
Wonderful page Mike! Lucky you were with a guide as to me, you saw heaps in your limited time. Amazed that you managed so many nice photo's with all those crowds.
Glad you enjoyed your trip. No visa is necessary to enter Bethlehem, by the way, and it is not in "Palestine" as no such place has existed since 1948.
Looks like you've gotten a start on some new pages Mike...Looks really interesting..Ill check back soon..
