Paris - 3 Days Not Long Enough

Return To Paris - More Enjoyable Than Before

Palace of Versailles, Bassin et parterree Latone
The year 1993 was our first visit to Europe, a 9 week family holiday and a fantastic experience which included a taste of France with 7 days at Perpigan, close to the Pyranees Mountains, a magic train ride to Paris on the very fast train and a few days in Paris which included one day at Euro Disney as a reward for good behaviour. Paris was only a glimpse.

Our chance to return to Paris arose in May 2007 with the purchase of Round The World air tickets, a 3 day Paris stopover was included and with only the 2 of us we were able to do as we liked.

Seasoned travellers by now, we knew we must obtain accommodation located close to many attractions, we chose the Latin Quarter and what a great location, surrounded by the most wonderful historic sites, the Siene River, cafes and restaurants, fashion shops, and the metro at our doorstep.
We were able to walk to many attractions, and as you walk along the side and back streets the city opens up to you, you will see what the guide books never print, the gems of daily life.
River Seine

A Ferry Tour Along The Siene

Whether your vist to Paris is one day or a week, priority should be given to a river cruise along this famous waterway. It gives you the chance to see many of the famous buildings and bridges which hug the riverside. In selecting a cruise make certain your ferry has outside elevated seating as you will have a better view.
Inside The Pantheon

Fabulous Buildings, Many Within Walking Distance

When in Paris you will be surrounded by history, beauty, churches, buildings, monuments, fashion shops, restaurants and cafes. Most of us are not in the city long enough to view the inside of all these buildings, however it is possible to walk up to and take photos of most.

Waiting in lines for entry to each attraction is very time consuming and a little research prior to your holiday will ensure you visit the inside of the buildings which are most important for you.

Great to read about places we didn't have time to visit but will be on our list for our return trip. Thanks, Mike

Just in Paris last week, and enjoyed looking at your pics - love the place. I did not see that mini-train though and would have ridden it --- we walked with Vter CesVT. And the police building at Palais de Justice is being renovated right now...Norman :)

Great Paris page, Mike. I'm back for my 4th visit in August, so will be looking for some of those restaurants. Thanks for the tips, Kate

Will be in Paris in April taking "untravelled" friends. I had forgotten about the tram and it will be great as one of our company cannot walk far.
