Kanchanaburi is located on the River Kwai and is well known for the movie The Bridge on The River Kwai which told the story of the Thai Burma Railway built during World War 2. It is beautiful riverside country and the focal point is the Bridge, however many tourist activities such as Elephant Farms, Rafting and Resort accommodation have now been established throughout the district. It is magnificant country and if you like to live with nature then you will be able to find it here, somewhere along the river. I was lucky enough to visit this area in 1977, when it was relatively undeveloped , and stayed 2 nights on a boatel amongst the isolated jungle close to the Burma border. |
