This was my fifth holiday to Thailand the first being in 1977, then 1980 and 2002, 2006 and 2008. Each visit has been most enjoyable and thinking back to 1977 I have noticed considerable change, more noticeable in the country areas, the native jungle has retreated as development has creapt along river banks etc. One thing that has not changed is the good nature and smiling face of the Thai people. |
| Asia Hotel Welcomes our Orchid Society |
| | This trip was organised by my local orchid society, The Wanneroo Orchid Society, located in Perth Western Australia. A group of 34 set out on 1st February 2006 for 17 days of which 5 were spent in the Chiang Mai region and the balance in Bangkok. We visited half a dozen orchid nurseries, the remainder of the time being free time which enabled individuals to do their own thing or get a group together and hire a suitable bus to do our touring. We had day visits to River Kwai including rafting and elephant riding, tour of floating markets, Chiang Mai Hill Tribes and so on. it was a fabulous way to holiday as you had company whenever you wanted, or lay by the pool in isolation. |

I think it's good to travel with people who share a common interest, especially since you were able to visit the Bangkok Flower Market together. | scottishvisitor Sun Mar 22, 2009 22:20 UTC Enjoyed the virtual tour = maybe I can spend some time in Bangkok when I retire & have more time for long haul travel! |
