Scuba diving on Isla de la Juventud
Old Soviet-style rundown hotel with 200 staff for 12 guests at the time (really!!), horrible restaurant decoration, bad food, no potable water available due to organisational matters...
...so quite interesting. I would have missed something about Cuba having stayed in all those perfectly run Casas Particulares on the mainland only.
But the hotel had very nice new bungalows with ocean sunset view, great divemasters, good equipment (Fidel Castro himself is a diver), excellent food during lunch break on the jetty of a lonesome beach and good but in some dive-magazins overrated divesites.
