It was my first trip to India. As I had only 4 weeks I decided to go for the typical - or at least in most parts typical - tourist itinary. I went on my own, only with my flight ticket and the guidebook in my pocket and a place to stay in Delhi for the first 2 nights.
Before I went I had an idea about the places I wanted to see, how long I stayed at each place I decided when I was there.
My itinary:
Delhi - Agra - Varanasi - Kajuraho - Orcha - Sawai Madhopur (Ranthambore NP) - Pushkar - Jodhpur - Jaisalmer - Jaipur - Mandawa - Delhi

Great to see your experiences in India. It was nice talking to you in Karlsruhe. Greeting from Hamburg. Ulrike
Ich freue mich schon auf Varanasi!!!!!
Excellent tips and photos, Daniela. Wow, I can't believe that you went to India for 4 weeks with reservations for only your first 2 nights. Also, I think most people would lose their temper after your experience in Jaisalmer. :) Best from NJ, Bill
Your tip on Rajsthan were very true and genuine. Even I as an Indian living in Rajasthan experienced the same thing at Jaisalmer. Things have become very commercial around there.
Things are changing very fast here, for good or for bad. Traditions are being fast forgotten and the only language everyone loves is the language of money !
Hi, I just saw your tip on Things to do in Varanasi. Very fascinating and interesting. A place I would like to go to one day, I have it on my mind for some time now ... all the best, flyfreak
