In 2003 I spent 4 weeks in Indonesia, 2 weeks on Java, and 2 weeks on Bali.
Of course, 2 weeks are not quite enough to cover the big island of Java, but it was enough to leave me with some great experiences:
Searching the tourists in "touristy" Yogyakarta and finally finding out that the town was full of javanese tourists and therefore for me not instantly outstanding.
Being an attraction to the javanese tourists at the Borobudur Temple and photographed by I do not know how many people - the opposite way of usual travel photography ;)
Having a great afternoon and evening at a southern japanese family's house and getting a new hairstyle (plaids - verrrry pretty) from a traditionally dressed muslim woman (not showing any hair at all).
Seeing Mount Bromo smoking and Mt. Semeru erupting. Being impressed by the hard labour of the sulfur carriers at Kawah Ijen.
Having a great laugh at the "petrol stations". |
