MOTHER OF ALL FALLS | looking down at the falls |
Niagara falls is the mother of all falls. What St Peters Basilica is to the cathedrals of Europe, Niagara is to the waterfalls of the world. If you prefer the drama of a narrow stream falling far into a small oasis, this may not be for you. This is sensory overload and a wonder of the world. I hope that if you travel to Niagara you will spend some time in the surrounding countryside and maybe even stay in the country. If you have time, go to see the Finger Lake region of New York. Lots of pretty hikes, cute towns and wineries there as well as waterfalls. Or visit Toronto on your trip, too. |
| | GET IN AND GET WET For me, the falls could not be appreciated until I got up close and personal with them. Get as close as you can so you can feel the power of them and begin to comprehend their size. |
| | THE UGLY SIDE OF THE FALLS The Clifton Hill area of Niagara is another wonder of the world. Its a giant cespool of visual excess for the tourist. If you like this sort of thing, spend your money on Vegas. Vegas is classier and you'll probably bring more money home! Walk through once for people watching. |
