"A SCENE WORTH A VOYAGE ACROSS THE ATLANTIC" Harpers Ferry National Historical Park by dtownkitty
Harpers Ferry National Historical Park Travel Guide: 31 reviews and 97 photos
Harpers Ferry is a place that can satisfy many different interests. There is beautiful scenery, lots of opportunity for outdoor activities, and is rich in its history with many historical sites to visit.
Thomas Jefferson said the scenery was "worth a voyage across the atlantic" and I would agree. It is like a little slice of heaven. I think the fact that it has been made a park has saved it from greedy people destroying it with big ugly homes.
After days of rain, we were glad to find the weather in Harper's Ferry absolutely perfect! It was beautiful! People were hiking, kayaking, and climbing.
There are a lot of cute little shops and restaurants mixed in with the historical exhibits. The historic shops have people dressed in period clothing that give a lecture, demonstration, and answer your questions.
This small bridge is part of the Appalachian Trail that connects West Virginia and Maryland. On the cliff you can watch rock climbers.
- Pros:Its a beautiful place
- Cons:Nothing bad, really.
- In a nutshell:I want to go back with the grown ups.
