Chicago is a great city that anyone would enjoy. There's all sorts of incredible architecture, museums, parks, shopping, night life, sporting events, music and great public transport. The downtown is clean, and it's a very walkable city. The picture shows the Marina City towers (otherwise known as the corn on the cob buildings) designed by Bertrand Goldberg along the Chicago river.

You are sooo right in your intro - Chicago is a fabulous & beautiful city, but you are also sooo right with your con, boy it is cold in winter. But what about Detroit in winter? Never been there so asking.
