The statue of Uncle Ho or Ho Chi Minh resides in front of the City Hall building. The famous Ho Chi Minh or Ho the Enlightened, sometimes known as Nguyen Ai Quoc- Nguyen the Patriot, was born Nguyen Tat Thanh in 1890. He's an ambivalent, enigmatic figure in many ways.

The hotel has a fascinating history, and the restaurant/cafe at the rooftop was the favorite spot of the U.S. military and spies during the war. Interesting. Stay here if you want to experience the old-Saigon feel.

Ben Thanh market is an indoor market offering goods ranging from arts, crafts, souvenirs, tshirt to fake branded item. The seller here happily accept either Vietnam Dong or US Dollar. Some of the seller here take the initiative to learn some basic phrases of other languages, such as japanese and even Malay to attract tourist to their stall. You shall always bargain for good price and dont forget to have some sense of humor and smile. Some item worth looking at : beaded handbags, less than $5, seashell products less than $10 dollar, and many more. I bought 20 tshirts as souvenir to my friends. Guess how much was it? a dollar each!

Amazingly, this tunnel system is approximately 250km long and was built over 25 years on hard clay with no specific plan or architecture intelligent .And all they use were hand tools It was an underground city with living areas, kitchen, weapons storage and so on. In some spots, it was even several stories deep and housed up to 10,000 people who virtually lived underground for years.... Of course the Americans knew the existence of the tunnel,so they (the Viet Congs) set up booby traps everywhere. They even have smoke filtering system from their underground kitchen to prevent from being tracked by the US army.
