NEW ORLEANS' SUNDAY IN KRAKOW, POLAND - New Orleans

New Orleans 2004 and Krakow 2005

I visited French Quartier of New Orleans in November 2004 and I liked this unique city a lot. Why? Because of its unique, friendly, dancing and full of music atmosphere, its food, architecture and sunny weather...

I couldn't believe watching on TV beautiful New Orleans flooded after Katrina hurricane... Well, I do hope the city comes to life, in even better way (if possible), in near future. More, I am sure about it. And I will revisit New Orleans sooner or later.

The tragedy of New Orleans, Louisiana and Mississippi inspired me to go to Krakow, Poland today (11 September 2005) to join "The New Orleans' Sunday". It was a cultural event organized by a few non-governmental organisations to give some aid for the people of New Orleans. I joined a jazz concert of top Polish jazzmen, which took place on the main square.

The inscription on the pin says: "Krakow for New Orleans; New Orleans' Sunday". It's great to see that the help and sympathy to New Orleans comes from all over the USA and the world including my lovely Krakow, Poland.

MONEY BOX FOR NEW ORLEANS

I've seen many people, both locals and visitors to Krakow, who gave some money for the people of New Orleans. Many Polish people underlined that surely the USA was strong enough to survive even worse disasters. But they remembered great help of Americans (and others) for Poles during martial law against Solidarity movement in 1980'.

The Polish Humanitarian Organisation has begun fundraising for the victims of the Katrina hurricane that struck the southern coast of the United States.

Im glad to see Poland helped New Orleans too. I loved N.O. Our best friends are living there.Will let they now abouth this. We are thinking go there maybe on february 2007.

I am impressed that there was so much help given New Orleans from the world. These natural disasters are devastating, like the earthquake. It's good to see that we can all join together for unity in a crisis. Thank you, Matt!!!!!!!!
