THE WORLD BIGGEST BORDER CROSSING POINT
Drive or walk to Mexico (Tijuana) to see quite another world :-). The world biggest border crossing point waits for you! Crossing border to Mexico on foot is just like walking across a street but on the way back be prepared to stay in a very long line. Details in my Tijuna, Mexico page.
HORTICULTURE
You can admire really luxuriant vegetation walking around City of Imperial beach.
As I know it's rather dry area at least in summer time - who pay for watering all these plants that time? A city? = tax payers? Me when I pay sale taxes? :-)
From LINDA (lmkluque):
The "luxuriant vegetation" in and around San Diego usually needs little watering?except for the grass?most landscaping is created to use minimal water besides natural rainfall. So, the owner of the land pays for the watering. If
the owner of the land is the city, county, state or Federal Government then the tax payers?and tourists?pay for watering.
THANK YOU Linda :-).
CITY OF IMPERIAL BEACH
Go/walk/drive outside a downtown and other tourist points of interest to see huge residential areas mixed with many business areas. Look at architecture of their houses, yards full of flowers, palm trees, various (exotic for me) trees, bushes, fruits etc.
SPRING TRAINING?
I was in Imperial Beach in April. There were only seagulls and lifeguards on the beach. NO BEACH GIRLS!
Imperial Beach Fishing Pier
The Pier on Imperial Beach is really long. Just walk and look around - you can admire nice views of the ocean and the city and watch fishermen.
Address: Imperial Beach
IMPERIAL BEACH
Imperial Beach is located in City of Imperial beach south of San Diego = close to Mexico. It's the most southern Pacific beach of the USA, oops... maybe rather continental USA. Aren't Hawaii more to south? :-)))
Directions: Driving I-5 or I-805 (towards Mexico) take the exit to Palm Ave or to Coronado Ave (from I-5) - drive west to the end (= to the Pacific Ocean).
IMPERIAL BEACH
Imperial Beach is not the best beach of San Diego County but for me the area looked great and I saw the Pacific Ocean for the first time there.
And it's surely a SANDY beach, are there any rocky beaches in the USA? Driving around the Pacific Coast from Imperial Beach to Seattle I have never seen any hehe.
From CHRIS (balfor):
We Americans are spoiled without beaches. The vast majority of our beaches both on the atlantic and pacific oceans are sandy. Because of how common a sand beach is for us, we don't normally think of a rocky beach as a beach.... it is just the oceanfront. I was very surprised the first time I went to Europe and saw people laying out on a bunch of rocks!
Thank you for your explanations!
HOTEL DEL CORONADO
Drive, take a bus (or rent a bicycle, walk - looong, take rollerblades...) to Coronado Island via Silver Strand.
Visit the world famous Hotel Del Coronado and Coronado Beach.
