Getting TO/AROUND: Coronado is connected with San Diego downtown by scheduled ferries (every 30 min). Take a ferry (harbour excursion) from Ferrylanding dock in Coronado to Broadway Pier in San Diego downtown.

Getting TO/AROUND: Coronado is connected to San Diego by the San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge (FREE), with its distinctive curved span.
    Doesn't it look impressive?

Getting TO/AROUND: Coronado is not an island (maybe it was) - it's a long peninsula. So except by a bridge you can get there from south by a land: driving highway 75 from Imperial Beach as we did. So we had the Pacific Ocean on the left and San Diego Bay on the right.

    From LINDA (lmkluque):
Coronado was and is an Island. The "Silver Strand" (the road we took from Imperial Beach to Coronado.) is "landfill" that the US Government built up to create that road, so Military Personel, living south of San DiegoCity could reach the base without having to drive all the way to downtown to get to work. (In those days there was only a ferry to Coronado. The Bridge across the SD Bay was built in 1969) The Silver Strand is like a bridge to Coronado.
Thank you Linda for your great explanations.

Getting TO/AROUND: When you drive back from Coronado to San Diego by the San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge you must enter I-5: either North (if you drive to downtown) from left lane or South (National Ave.) if you drive towards Mexico via National City from right lane.
Hmm... drive middle lane to choose last minute direction :-).

Getting TO/AROUND: Driving around Coronado is easy, even relaxing I could say, no traffic jams, at least when I was there on April's Saturday before midday.

    From LINDA (lmkluque):
There are traffic jams near the Bridge and the Silver Strand every morning and every evening when the personel at North Island goes to work and gets off work.
When you were here, that base--as well as all the other bases around here--was almost empty because so many went to Iraq.
    Thank you Linda!

Getting TO/AROUND: In residential areas of Coronado there are STOP signs almost on each intersection. They never put YIELD sign. So, stop and drive stop and drive, again and again :-).
Hmm... one more reason not to use manual transmission hehe.

A great page on another lovely California beach town. The bird on your page is a Solitary Sandpiper, I believe.

Returning to your Coronado to enjoy another sunny day at the beach. It's a lovely area.

Sure the bird is neither an albatross nor a sea gull (long beak, tall legs, coat don't fit). Might be either an American Bittern or better a Ruff but I have no book on American birds to be sure. You have extensively visited South Ca, I was more on North!
