"Amazing colours of autumn" Parnica by matcrazy1
Parnica Travel Guide: 19 reviews and 63 photos
I with Kathy (Kodi01) and Urszula (matcrazy0) took 1-day, short trip by my car from Poland to adjacent areas of Slovakia and Czech Republic. We crossed Polish-Slovak border at Oravska Polhora and visited Orava Castle and Vysni Kubin first. Then we passed through Parnica Obec (county) where we admired beautiful mountains in colours of autumn.
.
We were driving local highway 583 north Mala Fatra National Park. The mountains of Mala Fatra and Kysucke Vrhoviny looked the best just in early fall/autumn in my opinion esp. that we were lucky to catch some sunny weather :-).
If we had more time we would have hiked numerous trails in Mala Fatra and Kysucke Vrhoviny mountains. We only took a short walk and discovered this tiny, wooden bridge on my picture.
- Pros:Wild nature, peace and quiet, local, smoked sheep cheese
- Cons:Not many tourist facilities in some areas around
- In a nutshell:Escape to the mountains in autumn!

That cheese sure looks tasty... how was it?
What a lovely area. I would love to take a drive to Parnica. I also would like to taste the syrove korbaciki.
Matt, as always a very informative page with brilliant photos. I will be in the east of Slovakia at the end of May and I will try to get some syrove korbaciki when drinking Zlaty Bazaant ... *verybigsmile*
An entertaining page Matt, especially the instructions if you fall off the mountain! Those rugged & forested limestone areas make for a scenic drive. Yes, in Canada, Aspen trees are called 'quaking' because of the way they quiver in the slightest wind!
Such a pretty drive with the autumn colours coming out. Nice area to hike through. Wouldn't like to take those bends in snow. Never seen cheese pigtails before:-)
I wondered at first if syrove korbaciki was close to the Norwegian gjetost (smoked goat cheese) but the photo shows it is not. Gjetost is light brown and tastes sweet. Interesting page on an area that looks a real wilderness. Bookmark !
Matt, I really enjoyed this page with the local flavor. The cheese looks great, but I'd be so afraid of buying along side the road. Some beautiful scenery. Liked the Kathy (camerawoman) tale.
Orava and hiking in the Tatras. All i'd need is more Zlaty. Think I need to head here next time I'm in Poland too. Thanks
More interesting stuff from Matty
Interesting place and page! Matt, our saying is, "Shaking like a leaf." Your's is more descriptive. Hey, did you ever find Kathy near the railroad tracks?
