CRACOVIA STADIUM
.
Cracovia Football Club est. 1906 (5 times Champion of Poland) was always the big rival of Wisla Krakow. I can say that citizens of Krakow were divided into fans of Wisla (1st team in Dec. 2004) and fans of Cracovia (5th team). And sometimes some of them even fight on the streets hmm... :-(
Now Cracovia is 5th the best Polish football team and has many fans.
The Krakow's tradition (a very good tradition) is the match between old rivals CRACOVIA and WISLA at midday (12.00 am) on... New Year's Day each year in Cracovia Stadium close to Cracovia Hotel (approx. 20-25 min. on foot from the Main Market), the players often seems to be amused especially when they play on the snow haha.

FANS OF WISLA
.
The most popular football club is Wisla (pronaunced Viswa) Krakow - the champion of Poland 2000/2001, vice-champion 2001/2002 and the best team in Polish league now (12 matches won, 2 drawn, 2 lost till December 2002).
On 10th Dec. 2002 after one of the best matches they won German team SHALKE04 (first team of German league now) 4-1 in Germany and qualified to 1/4 finals of European UEFA Cup competition.
Wisla defeated Italian outfit Parma AC and Glentoran Belfast (Northern Ireland) in the earlier rounds of the competition.
Next big UEFA matches in spring 2003 :-).

DEDICATED FAN :-)))
.
The most popular sport discipline in Krakow is soccer (European football). You can see many mainly young (but not only) people playing football in numerous football fields across the city - mainly by schools.

Krakow's Blonia with... 2.2 mln people
.
The other fantastic and huge area for jogging is Krakow's Blonia - THE BIGGEST EUROPEAN MEADOW.
It's unbelievable how did it happen that almost in the center of the city is such big (a few kilometers/miles) long green meadow. No skyscrapers, no buildings, no McDonald's just meadow. Nowadays better do not suggest to build anything there. Citizen's of Krakow seems to be proud to remain this unbuilt area.
Blonia are triangle-shape with it's apex just about 15 min. walking distance from the main market Square (near Cracovia Hotel and Kyiv cinema).
On 18th August 2002 there was the second biggest meeting of the people in the world's history just in Krakow's Blonia. Pope John Paul II presided – together with 200 Polish and foreign bishops – over the open-air Holy Mass on Krakow’s Blonia commons with 2.2 million attending.

Planty Garden Ring - the fall.
.
Krakow as every big city is not a paradise for jogging lovers but there are a few excellent areas to run around including Planty Garden Ring aroung the Old Town.
Hmm... most of Krakow's citizens don't do it everyday, some in weekends (haha, weekend warriors). So you maybe alone jogging and some locals may look at you like at creature from space hehe.
A green belt of public parks called Planty took up the emptied after Krakow's medieval city walls (they were largely demolished) area of 52 acres in the 1820s. It takes an hour to two hours to walk or at least half that time to run around the Old Town historical district down the leafy alleys among old trees (depends on how long are your legs).
And the stroll is the more delightful as Krakow’s ancient buildings reveal their unusual aspects. On the other hand, it appears also a journey through the art of gardening for the Planty ring actually proves to be a chain of some 30 gardens in varied styles.
