Village hidden in the Beskidy mountains Would you like to receive a postcard from Poland? Click here, please! Thank you very, very much :-))) Sopotnia Wielka is a village in Beskidy Mountains in southern Poland located at the end of the road near Slovak border. No doubts - it's out of the beaten path. I was there a few times, always to meet my friends and enjoy the beauty of nature in peace and quiet - it's amazing place, quite different in every season of the year. Last time I was there together with my friend Kathy (Kodi01) from Dallas, Texas - first American there???
You can find here beauty of the mountains, fresh mountain air, great wildlife (foxes, does, deers), wooden houses and chapels, friendly natives and almost no tourists. Sopotnia Wielka is located: - 100 km (62 mi) southwest of Krakow, - 80 km (50 mi) south of Oswiecim (Auschwitz-Birkenau) and my hometown Tychy.. . . |

| | Beskidy Mountains Sopotnia Wielka is a perfect base for mountain trips especially to the Pilsko summit situated on Polish-Czech border 1557 m (5108 ft) above see level. The snow usually lies long on northern slopes of Pilsko which makes this place popular for skiing. |
Looong village The village of about 1600 citizens is loooong (10 km, I suppose), houses are located along the banks of the Sopotnia Wielka river. The river forms small waterfalls here. .
