"Pretty countryside around... interesting town" Lazdijai by matcrazy1
Lazdijai Travel Guide: 55 reviews and 98 photos
Lazdijai was old town (1597) in the south of Lithuania, 7 kilometres from the border with Poland. It was located in the centre of a rural district rich in lakes and old fortified hills.
The city itself was not especially interesting but... if you want to look what such cities in Lithiania look like... And first of all I could observe a lot of local life and customs there.
Well, there was interesting, old Roman catholic parish church and cemetery, a few interesting old houses and public sculptures/statues. Additionally there were some possibilities for cheap food and drink shopping there.
The area around Lazdijai with a lot of beautiful lakes was more interesting than the city itself.
- Pros:Lakes around, some inexpensive shopping, interesting cemetery and church
- Cons:Nothing fancy there, ugly centre/downtown
- In a nutshell:Observe the world! Everything maybe interesting :-)

I love border towns , and you are laughing a little about lithuania lol
I'm eager to continue my virtual journey across Lithuania with you. It's really fascinating, although the places you describe are hardly known.
I really enjoyed your Lithuanian insights and opinions. The local housing shots are really good. I read all of your Pope pages. When are you going to write a book?
your talent to distill tips from the most boring places is extraordinary. I suggest you to visit F*ucking (25 km from the birthplace of the new Pope). I made a page with 23000 visits of it, you could easily get 100000 visitors in a few weeks ;-))
While some build uninteresting pages on great places, you build a great and fascinating page on an uninteresting city! Two hammers for "working days"! I never saw that sign! Previously, was it a hammer and a sickle ?
Only you would dedicate a whole t'log to Beer & they have a better variety of beer than food. I get that you didn't care much for this dreary place. The cemetery was nice!
This might be an easy name for a Pole to pronounce, but how on earth do you say "Lazdijai"? Great page Matt, what does that parking sign mean? Park here and we'll smash your car up????
I like your warning tips on this page. I didn't know the former Soviet Union did not like flat, hehehe...
Great job Matt,I enjoyed very much the tour in Lazdkjai! as usual another very nice and informative page and travelogues!!!!
When are you going to visit some place I've heard of? Good pages and interesting as well.
