I was passing through Wojewodztwo Lodzkie ( = administrative district with city of Lodz as its capitol in central Poland) many times but I would like to share on this page my last delicious Polish food experiences from restaurants called Czarci Ruszt which means DEVIL'S GRILL in old Polish language.

Except pierogi (Polish raviolis) and kielbasa (sausage) Poland offers a lot of various kinds of meat, fish, mushrooms, fresh vegetables, fruits and much more.

COTTAGE - RESTAURANT

Driving around Poland I noticed that there are more and more such cottages as on my picture with an inexpensive and delicious grill restaurants inside. Boom for old Polish restaurants?
Do we come back to our traditions after 45 years under strange to our feelings and tradition Soviet communist regime?

INSIDE THE COTTAGE - RESTAURANT

Inside the traditional cottage you can find usually one or a few large chambers with wooden tables and benches and of course traditional grill and traditional Polish fireplace.

Pros and Cons

Pros:Delicious traditional Polish food, amzing wooden architecture
Cons:Sometimes looong waiting time for food
In a nutshell:Never, ever miss traditional Polish food!

Great and yummy page Maciek. I hope it will make tourists taste our delicious Polish food instead of visiting foreign fast food restaurants here. BTW, never heard of czarcia zupa before.

I liked the alcohol warnings, though apparently Vodka is not considered alcohol in Poland, it is a medicinal product. As for the girls in the Devil's Grill, you only saw it on TV ;-)))

No; no, no, French fries have never been French. These long pieces of fried potatoes are in France considered as Belgian and we have a load of ethnical jokes with Belgians and fries! However beef steack and fries is a usual fast food especially in Paris.

I bet the smells from a Polish Grill are amazing!! The Devils Grill looks real cosy especially with that fire place. Amazing cottage - great craftsmanship.

sorry Mate...nothing here for vegetariens??, the Beer sounds good, the wood and buildings very rustic, like that.but, find me a nice polish vege meal....okay, Salmon sounds alright!!^..^
