Getting TO/AROUND: . The best wat to get around Paris it to use huge metro (subway) system. The Métro was opened on 19 July 1900 and transports roughly 6 million people per day. . It's said that every building is within 500 metres (547 yd) of a métro station. I don't think so, I think that it's closer :-). . Download the Parisian metro map in GIF (or change to PDF format if you prefer) from the page: www.citefutee.com/orienter/plans _gif.php

Getting TO/AROUND: . A single ticket is valid for one journey and can be used on the Metro, RER, Bus and Tram within Paris and its immediate suburbs. On the Metro, one ticket is good for any destination, even if the station is outside Paris. Transfers are permitted. Single tickets are sold either individually or in packs of 10, called a 'carnet'. A carnet is a booklet of 10 single tickets and are sold at the following prices (in euros): - 1 tickket 1.30; - booklet of 10 tickets (full price) 9.60; - booklet of 10 tickets (reduced price for children aged 4-10, kids under 4 ride free of charge) 4.80. . PARIS VISITE is a travel card pass enabling you to use all the public transport services + free admissions or special rates, discounted prices to some museums and other points of interest. Paris Visite is on sale in 1, 2, 3 and 5 days version and in 1-3; 1-5 or 1-8 zones. For example for 1-3 zone (= without Eurodisney) it costs (children 4-11/adults): 1 day 4.55 / 8.35 2 days 6.85 / 13.70 3 days 9.15 / 18.25 4 days 13.70 / 26.65 MORE: www.ratp.fr/ParisVisite/Eng/Voy_ q/f_travel.htm . Notice the beauty of some metro entrances. On the picture you can see beautiful the Art Nouveau métro entrance designed by Hector Guimard between 1898-1904: Abbesses in the 18th arrondissement. .

Driving: By a car around Paris?

Getting TO/AROUND: . Better NOT to use a car in Paris. If you can park a car bumper to bumber (at a distance not more then 10 cm=4 inches) during half a minute and if you have much $$$ (for parking fees - it may costs you even more then your accommodation) and if you are patient to look for any place to park a car you are ready to enter Paris by a car :-). BETTER park your car in the suburbs close to the metro (subway) station and your accommodation. .
