HOTEL GRAND HYATT BERLIN - Berlin

HOTEL GRAND HYATT BERLIN

Grand Hyatt Berlin: Good location for over 200 € Grand Hyatt Berlin Review
Show Prices

Excuse, I didn't sleep there. I was in this newly built hotel for a moment and I can only say that it looked very modern and offers nice looking restaurants. But I am not sure whether it's worth of over 200 € per double room.

Unique Qualities: A breathtaking view over the rooftops of Berlin from indoor swimming pool (Club Olympus Spa & Fitness) on the top.

Good location within walking distance of the Berlin Tiergarten, the Mitte district, the Reichstag and the Brandenburg Gate. The hotel is adjacent to Germany's largest casino, the Arkaden shopping mall and numerous cinemas and restaurants.

HOTEL ADLON KEMPINSKI BERLIN - Berlin

HOTEL ADLON KEMPINSKI BERLIN

Hotel Adlon Kempinski: To see and to be seen Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin Review
Show Prices

Excuse, I didn't sleep in this hotel, not for my budget, yet :-). But I can say that the renovated recently building was impressive and its main hall looked very stylish - a place to see, but perhaps more importantly, a place to be seen. I saw page-boys and bellhops dressed in the original red uniforms of the hotel. The full name of the hotel is Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin as it belongs to the Kempinski chain of luxary hotels.

Adlon was the most luxurious hotel of the Golden Twenties. It was open in 1907, closed in 1970 and re-opened in a new building (the old one was torn down in 1984) at the same place in 1997.

Unique Qualities: Great location next to the famous Branderburg Gate.
The most expensive hotel in Berlin and maybe in Germany. I just checked it online: double room starts at 280.00 €, but there is Adlon Executive Suite for 845.00 € as well.

Address: Unter den Linden 77, 10117 Berlin, Germany

Comparison: most expensive

Directions: On corner of Pariser Platz, Unter den Linden and Wilhelm Straße, next to Branderburg Gate.
S-Bahn: Unter den Linden ((S1, S2, S25);

KEMPINSKI HOTEL - Berlin

KEMPINSKI HOTEL

Kempinski Hotel Bristol Berlin: Great for business Kempinski Hotel Bristol Berlin Review
Show Prices

Excuse, I didn't stay there, try to guess why? But my friend spent there two nights and... days in 2003 and he was very, very satisfied. No wonder, he didn't pay his hotel bill :-), he was on business there.
The building of the hotel didn't look very interesting for me to be honest. The locals called the hotel shortly "Kempi".

Unique Qualities: Surely the price: over 300 € for "the cheapest" double room (with breakfast :-) and not per week but per night!

My friend told me that Kempinski was luxury hotel at great location in the heart of Berlin with great, great food and facilities for business meetings and... Albert Einstein lived there once.

Address: Kurfuerstendamm 27 Postfach 740 1066, 10719 Berlin

ENTRANCE TO HOLIDAY INN GARDEN COURT - Berlin

ENTRANCE TO HOLIDAY INN GARDEN COURT

Holiday Inn Garden Court: Great location and breakfast Holiday Inn Garden Court Berlin - Kurfurstendam Review
Show Prices

I was looking for comfortable room for 2 in downtown/centre called Charlottenburg and exclusively with parking area for my car. This hotel pleased my needs exactly.

Hmm... maybe except the price -
99.00 euros for double room (two European size = quite small beds) and additional 10.00 euros for covered parking seemed to me a little much for a small room esp. in February. Maybe I wasn't objective, I saw twice more expensive hotels nearby and I spent previous night in much better hotel for approx. 35 euros in... Poland.

But at least the hotel was just
excellently located in a quiet side street off the world-famous Kurfurstendamm, characterized by exclusive boutiques, restaurants, bars and theatres - all easily reachable on foot from the hotel.

I was too flexible to find and to book any hotel through internet in advance and too tired to look for any other hotel after midnight when I finally came there. I will hopefully save some euros next time.

Unique Qualities: Very kind and helpful, English-speaking guy at the reception - he gave us small, handy map of Berlin's centers (yes, centres, Berlin has a few centers!) and transportation map/scheme and he replied to all my questions.

Great breakfast (included in room price) served in a restaurant on 5th floor from 6.30am - 10.30am. I wasn't hungry till the evening :-). On the other hand I didn't try any German food on lunch, next time...

Room/bathroom had everything it should: cable TV, phone, hair-dryer etc. Add refrigerator with some drinks (I found there
traditional... Polish bison vodka: Zubrowka - you can try it, I didn't :-), extra paid.
The room was small and there was not table there, just small flat space to put my laptop and belongings there. And the light was too poor to read easily small letters on my big Berlin map. Did they try to save on energy?

Watch for small lift (up to 3 persons unless they have any luggage).

Address: Bleibtreustrasse 25, 10707 Berlin, Germany

Comparison: about average

Directions: Charlottenburg District - from main street Kurfurstein turn south, approx. 50 m on your right. U-bahn: Uhlandstr. (last station of U19 - 3-5 min. on foot) or Adenauerplatz (U7 - 5-7 min. on foot).
