Turquel Travel Guide: 43 reviews and 186 photos
Nested around the church, Turquel was in the middle ages a small town, loosing importance and dimension in the last centuries, until becoming a village. After the revolution of 1974, Turquel started growing again, recovering the status of "vila", which means small town, and reaching a balance that mixes the resources of towns with the quiet and healthy rural life.
An huge blackberry cluster joins the tower near the center of town
For centuries the symbol of justice and authority was the pillory, that most cities preserve as references from their past. Turquel is no exception, and in the central place the pillory stands in evidence as our main monument
Although rocky, Turquel is fertile. Sheltered by the shadows of laurels, a path descends to "Fonte da Vila" and its pleasant valley.
- Pros:Quiet, safe and friendly
- Cons:Disorganized growth
- In a nutshell:Come

What a wonderful place you live in. YOu do a great job of enticing people to come and see the beauty and serene setting.
Hello, my new friend! It's a nice town you live in! Greetings from UA!
Hi Avelino. I visited your town last Sunday. Sorry didn't have time to meet you, but the people are so friendly there. I will be back soon. It is a very special part of Portugal. Joy
mus be a great city to live, good tips
I enjoyed reading this sympathetic but critical introduction to your home town. Hurrah for Casa Sousa Lopes!
great page!
Hi again, having another roam around your Portugal pages - very nice and special to see your snow shots! especially if such a rare sighting!ive still got a lot to do on my P. pages yet.PS is that you on the donkey?!
This is a great page. You presented your hometown very well & posed a question I often ask: is growth always progress? I like the idea of the old family homes rather than apartments. Hopefully Turquel is able to retain the charm you've shown in this page.
What a gorgeous place that you call home :-) Very nice tips & lovely photos. I hope to visit more of Portugal one day. My ratings are with you. Greetings from the desert / Jess
This looks like a beautiful place to live : )
