Why not venture just a smidge off the beaten path.... Budapest will get you away from the crowds... It has a little less packaged and processed feel than its counterparts to the west. Come and grub out on hearty and tasty Hungarian cuisine, have a dip in the hot springs, then just check out the city.... There are plenty of places to get away from the crowds, especially on Margaret's island. Budapest is a good time, if a bit rough around the edges.... its a good place to cleanse yourself tourist syndrome.
Overlooking Buda... other side of the river, Pest...
The island is deceptively large... it can be reached at the midway point of one of Budapests northern bridges... very relaxed, a good place to spend an afternoon or morning... or, just walk around for an hour or so...
- Pros:More exotic than big west europe cities... buda is beautiful..
- Cons:Pest can be a little concrete... most of the important sites in pest are right on the river
- In a nutshell:Great value, friendly, and foreign... very genuine place...
