Monkeys!

"Two hours from the border to Tikal??!! Damn.... well, no matter... We Americans want everything right away... But tikal has been around quite a while.... I think itll still be there."

Tikal is stashed in the jungle... Really... There is no big city or town here... its just you, the ruins, and the monkeys and wildlife that share Tikal like it grew as organically as the trees they swing from.... The ruins themselves are spread out over a large area, so you'll sweat a little if you plan on seeing it all... plus, you'll find yourself on a lightly paved jungle trail with no one around more than a few times... SEE Tikal... Its the heart of the Ruta Maya, and I cant think of a more fitting setting....

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:What you imagined an ancient mayan city in the jungle would be...
  • Cons:Quite a distance from the most visited areas of guatemala....
  • In a nutshell:Dont miss it, if you care at all about ruins..
