Port Hardy Travel Guide: 5 reviews and 32 photos

Port Hardy. Now this is where I like to go fishing in the unspoiled area of North Vancouver Island. I went to Port Hardy to get groceries and go for coffee while camping near by.
The town just made me feel like I was at home or wanted to be.
Hope you like bears, they blend in.
(they like fishing too!)

"Bears are everywhere", this applies to the whole area and they mean it.
The area (not the town) also has a high cougar population.

This falls into the Pros: area and with proper precautions it's not much concern. As they say it does help to be able to outrun your friend!

How do you tell the difference between a Black bear and a Grizzly?
A black bear will chase you up a tree and a Grizzly will shake you out of a tree.

Fishing on a bad day beats work on a good day everytime.
